Introduction
We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in our home-based two-bedroom bed
and breakfast. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you
have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to
help you.
Pre-Arrival
• Local transport is very limited. The train station is 15 minutes away by car,
as is the bus station. The airport is a 30-minute drive. We can provide details
of local taxi numbers or pre-book them on request.
• We are well served with local places to eat within a five-minute drive.
• We have a website with photographs of our facilities, which are all on the
ground floor.
• You can contact us by phone or email, or by clicking on the link on our
website.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
• Parking is in one of our courtyards by the front door. The courtyard has a
level surface with a mixture of gravel and brick paving.
• Assistance with luggage is offered to all our guests.
Main Entrance & Reception
• The hall way and corridors have paved brick floors, with just one small step
leading towards the dining room.
• Guests are escorted to their room and the layout of the Barn and the
facilities are explained to them.
Public Areas - General (Internal)
• Bedrooms and the dining room have reclaimed wooden floors. The ensuite shower
room has a ceramic tiled floor, whilst the private bathroom has a reclaimed
wooden floor.
• Throughout the Barn there are exposed ceiling beams.
Public Areas - WC
• Room 1 has an ensuite shower with toilet and sink.
• Room 2 has a private bathroom with bath, hand-held shower, toilet bidet and
sink.
Dining Room
• Breakfast is served in the dining room.
• We do not play background music in any area of the bed and breakfast.
• We aim to cater for special dietary needs if given prior notice.
• Guests are welcomed to bring takeaway meals back to the Barn and we are happy
to provide crockery and cutlery for use in our dining room.
Laundry
• Drying facilities for coats and shoes/boots are available near the front
entrance.
Shop
• There are no shops in Howe, but there is a supermarket and post office in the
next village.
Bedrooms
• Both bedrooms are on the ground floor, with one small step to negotiate (13cm
height) in the corridor.
• Door widths are 72cm.
• The floors are reclaimed mahogany and have rugs.
• Bedroom 1 can be used as a double or twin bedded room.
• Bedroom 2 has a double bed.
• Each bedroom has 2 chairs.
• Televisions all have remote control and subtitle/teletext facilities.
Bathroom, Shower-room & WC
• Bedroom 1 has an ensuite shower room. Door width 72cm.
• The shower cubicle has a step of 28cm high.
• The toilet is 42cm high.
• The pedestal basin is 80 cm high.
• Bedroom 2 has a private bathroom next door to it. Door width 72cm.
• There is a Jacuzzi bath whose edge is 60cm high.
• The pedestal basin is 77cm high.
• The toilet is 44cm high.
• The bidet is 36cm high.
• There is an armchair in the bathroom.
Grounds and Gardens
• There is a paved courtyard leading off the dining room with a wooden table,
chairs and bench which guests can use for relaxation or for dining, when the
weather permits.
• The main garden is accessed from the road in front of the Barn and through a
5-bar gate. There is a lawn leading into a small wild flower area and into a
small wooded copse.
• There is a wooden bench provided near the wild flower area.
Additional Information
• Children over the age of 10 years are welcomed.
• There is a no smoking policy throughout the Barn.
• Mobile phone reception can be patchy throughout the Barn. We provide WiFi
internet access for guests' laptops.
• Maps of fire evacuation routes are provided in each bedroom.
